The sugar industry can contribute 700MW of electricity to the grid


The South African sugar industry can contribute approximately 700 MW of electricity capacity to the national grid through cogeneration projects, with an existing generation capacity of about 245 MW using bagasse [Winkler, 2006; SASA, 2016].
